The PG Department of Commerce, Nirmala College of Arts and Science, Meloor, successfully organized MIND SPARK - 26, a new business idea presentation competition, on 28th January 2026 at the NCAS Seminar hall. The programme aimed to foster entrepreneurial thinking, innovation, and problem solving skills among students by encouraging them to present technology driven business ideas that address real life challenges.
A total of six teams participated in the competition. Each team presented a new business idea aligned with the theme “Technology for a better world- Business ideas that solve real life problems.” The presentations were assessed based on innovation, relevance to the theme, feasibility, sustainability, business model, presentation skills and response to questions
The competition was conducted in two rounds, allowing students to refine and defend their ideas effectively. The competition was evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges, Ms. Malavika T Kumar (Quality Assurance Analyst, UST, Infopark, Kochi) and Ms. Jolsna, Department of English, Nirmala College of Arts and Science. The judges actively interacted with the participants, raising insightful questions that enhanced critical thinking and clarity of concepts.
After careful deliberation, the judges evaluated the presentations and shared their observations and suggestions. The valedictory session included the announcement of results and prize distribution. The first prize goes to team TECHNOPRENEURS , and second prize team HEMORA and third prize goes to team ORIGINIX. The judges appreciated the creativity, confidence and practical orientation demonstrated by the participants.
The event concluded on a positive note with enthusiastic participation and valuable learning experiences. MIND SPARK-26 significantly contributed to nurturing entrepreneurial aspirations among students and reinforced the department’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation.
